About YATA
Youth Agribusiness & Technology Advancement (YATA) is a non-profit organization envisioning a knowledge and skills-based, equitable, environment and health-mindful, prosperous society.
Our mission is to empower Tanzanian rural communities to engage in social business investment through quality education and skills training, modern agricultural production practices, crop processing, and conservation of medicinal and other plants of economic importance.
Our vision is to have communities that are educated, skilled and healthy and create and promote social businesses for improved productivity, quality service provision and conservation of traditional herbal shrubs and other plants.
We focus on promoting education, agriculture, food security, conservation, and alternative energy in Tanzania.
Our Programs
YATA High School is a model co-educational boarding school, starting with two streams at each level: Nursery, Primary, Secondary, and entrepreneurship vocational training.
YATA engages in modern organic farming, cultivating cereals, tubers, legumes, vegetables, and fruits. It also raises dairy cattle and white meat animals such as poultry, fish, and rabbits.
The YATA Herbal Gardens Program aims to promote the sustainable growth and conservation of medicinal and health-enhancing plants in Tanzania.
The YATA Green Tanzania Program aims to promote the culture of tree planting by providing schools and the general public with tree seeds and expert advice from experienced environmentalists.
The YATA Clean Waterfronts Program aims to protect and conserve water sources, waterways, and waterfronts for the benefit of the present and future generations.
This program aims to reduce the number of people who rely on charcoal as their primary energy source. Charcoal use harms the environment as it leads to indiscriminate harvesting of natural and wild trees.
